The Walkley Friendly Pool League is played throughout the pubs, clubs and snooker halls of Walkley, Sheffield.
League matches are played on Monday evenings, beginning at 8:30pm and are played over the best of seven frames,
the first five of which are singles match ups and the last two of which are doubles match ups.
Paul Dyson Singles Knockout First Round
D. Board received a BYE through to the second round.
L. Ellis received a BYE through to the second round.
R. Day is into round 2 after a 2-1 victory.
S. Nicholson bagged a 2-0 first round win to progress.
A. Townley will be amongst the last 32 after a 2-0 win.
R. Barrett won the deciding frame to advance to round two.
A. Richmond won both frames to reach the last 32.
M. Camm is through to the second round after winning 2-1.
C. Nicholson, certainly amongst the favourites, started with a 2-0 win.

Andrew Hulley Doubles Knockout First Round
M. Griffin and J. Griffin received a BYE through to the second round.
R. Knight/R. Carroll won 2-1 as Ronan emerged victorious in the Clash of the Captains.
C. Nicholson and G. Beardshaw won an all Spot On first round match 2-0.

Ivy Sadler Team Knockout First Round
The Spot On 'A' began their knockout adventure with a flawless victory agains the Railway 'A'.
The Forest 'B' are into the quarter finals after a 4-2 win at the Beer House.
The Mighty Florist 'A' are looking to take that one extra step. They won 4-2 at the Philadelphia.
The Forest 'A' won the last 3 frames to beat the Florist 'B' 4-3 and progress.
The Spot On 'B' won all four frames to defeat the Masons and take their place in the last 8.

League Week 8 Results
The Spot On 'A' did their frame difference a favour, beating the Florist 'B' 7-0.
The Mighty Florist 'A' are level with them after a 5-2 win against the Railway 'A'.
The Philadelphia are loitering menacingly in fourth. They won 4-3 against the Sportsman.
The Spot On 'B' also have title ambitions to maintain. They won away at the Beer House. 5-2.
The Railway 'B' are climbing. They inflicted a first defeat on the Forest 'B'. 4-3.
The Pitsmoor travelled to the Forest 'A' and took the two points on offer, 6-1.
There was no match for the Forest 'B'.
March Meeting

Rules of Play and League Guidelines
The Rules of Play and the League Guidelines were drawn up at the start of the 2023 season.
These can be viewed on, and downloaded from, the Downloads page.
All league players are encouraged to read the Rules of Play.
Errors or omissions can be reported via the Captains' WhatsApp group or the Facebook page.
Once approved by the Chairman, the Rules of Play or Guidelines can then be corrected.
Presentation Night Charity Killer Update
Thank you to everyone who donated to the Charity Killer event.
£120 was raised for Macmillan Cancer Support..

Mini League Results
Mini League Tables
There are three mini leagues all with four teams.
The three winners and the best runners up will then compete in the semi finals.
Each team will play the other teams in their league home and away.
Each match in the league stages and the finals is the best of nine frames of singles.
The matches consist of 3 sets of 3 frames.
Within each set three different players have to be used.
(Though a player can play in one, two or all three sets.)
A team can thus play a match with any number between 3 and 9 different players.
Two players can not play each other more than once in a match.
The subs from the July and August meetings will be used to create a mini-league prize pot.

February Meeting
La Plata have changed venue to the Philadelphia Bar and Function Suite.

All teams should list their Singles and Doubles entrants via the Captains' WhatsApp Group.
If a team has no entrants then this should also be noted in the group.
This should be done prior to the March meeting where the first round draws will be made.
Entry fees for the Singles and Doubles will be payable at the March meeting.
Entry to the Singles Knockout is £2 per person.
Entry to the Doubles Knockout is £2 per person. (£4 per pair.)
The Railway 'B' did not attend the meeting (A Railway pub delegate was present.).

Annual General Meeting 2025
P. Staniland was re-elected to the post of WFPL Chairman.
R. Carroll was re-elected to the post of WFPL Vice Chairman.
M. Fleet was re-elected to the post of WFPL Treasurer.

£20 Registration Fees were taken at the AGM.
There will be a £5 Subscription taken from each team per meeting.

A new team the Florist 'B' attended the AGM and registered for the 2025 season.
Proposal from the Florist 'B':
Singles and Doubles Knockout matches must be played,
or have a date to be played on set, before the next round draw.
Failure to do so will result in both players being removed from the competition.

No players may be registered when there are less than 4 league matches remaining.

Move the start time for matches from 8:30pm to 8:00pm.

The first meeting is planned to take place on Thursday the 6th of February.
